Erik ten Hag can trial Antony's replacement at Manchester United vs Nottingham Forest

There is no escaping the level of criticism that has been sent in Manchester United's direction over the past week.

The Reds, who slumped to their first defeat of the campaign on Saturday, losing 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, have produced two uninspiring and disjointed performances at the start of this term. Both of their showings, including the one that saw them scrape past Wolves in their opening game, have highlighted their transfer needs and exposed what remains their biggest weakness.

United have looked uncharacteristically disorganised in midfield and blunt in attack. Manager Erik ten Hag has named the same starting line-up for each of his side's opening two games and surely, in a bid to generate a spark, will have to change something against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Ten Hag, as expected, has deployed a midfield-three of Casemiro, Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes for United's first two games. It has been disorganised and bereft of the calculated structure it had last season.

Admittedly, it was unlikely to be inch perfect after just two games with a new signing within it, but United would have certainly hoped for better rewards than what it has produced so far. Though the attack has not contained a new signing, that has also done little to inject confidence into the veins of United supporters, who are patiently awaiting new signing Rasmus Hojlund's return from injury.
