Transfer uncertainty, Erling Haaland concern and the questions facing Man City

Manchester City kick off their Premier League season in just under two weeks time and Pep Guardiola is facing more questions than answers heading into the new campaign.

City are currently in America on their pre-season tour and round off their US trip with a dress rehearsal against top flight opening day opponents Chelsea. Guardiola's side have yet to win a game in the States, albeit with plenty of mitigation given the absence of several star players.

And while there have been several positives to take from some of the youngsters, City will likely fly home with some uncertainty as to what comes next.

The Blues have added just Savinho to their ranks and seem unlikely to strengthen further unless the need arises. And while no big-name players seem on the brink of departing, there remains uncertainty over the future of Ederson amid interest from Saudi Arabia, while Julian Alvarez's recent comments about wanting to play in more big matches have raised questions over whether he might depart.

Guardiola insists Kevin De Bruyne is staying amid constant speculation surrounding his future as he enters the final 12 months of his contract, while Kalvin Phillips has failed to convince in his friendly outings and still seems set for a likely departure.

City are well versed in dealing with transfer talk and it's unlikely to faze Guardiola and his players heading into the new campaign even if they'd be happy to turn down the volume on the outside noise.
