The 2024 transfer window closes - sorry, by journalistic law we must say 'slams shut' - on August 31, leaving less than 30 days for English clubs to complete all permanent moves in and out of their squads.

While City will be pleased talk of both of these high profile potential exits has calmed, Pep Guardiola, you feel, will soon become frustrated at continuing questions over his relationship with Julian Alvarez and increasing mentioning of an exit for the Argentina striker.
