Trams restart on Manchester Airport Metrolink line after car gets stuck on tracks

Commuters and holidaymakers faedcd disruption this morning after a Metrolink tramline was suspended. The Manchester Airport line was suspended since shortly before 6am today (May 2).

Metrolink says the suspension was due to a car being stuck on the tracks. Travellers were being urged to consider using local bus services before the line reopened at about 6.45am.

In an earlier post on Twitter, a spokesperson for Metrolink said: "Due to a car stuck on the tracks, the Manchester Airport line is currently suspended. Ticket acceptance is in place on local bus service.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused." The Manchester Airport line runs from the airport and Wythenshawe to the city centre.

Trams are now running on the Manchester Airport line.

Trams have been suspended due to a car on the tracks at Barlow Moor Road, according to the Inrix traffic monitoring system.

Passengers are being hit by disruption this morning.

Due to a car stuck on the tracks, the Manchester Airport line is currently suspended.
