Tram disruption in Manchester city centre following crash

Commuters were facing disruption in Manchester city centre following a crash.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said a collision had taken place on Mosley Street this morning (September 12).

The incident was on a major Metrolink route through the city centre, between St Peter's Square and Piccadilly Gardens.

A number of services changed their usual routes as a result of the crash.

An update on Transport for Greater Manchester's website said: "Due to a road traffic collision on Mosley Street, there are a number of service changes in the city centre."

"The following service change is in place across the tram network: Ashton-Under-Lyne - Victoria (then onto Eccles via Exchange Square); Eccles - Victoria (then onto Ashton); MediaCityUK - Crumpsall; Bury - Altrincham (via Exchange Square); Altrincham to Victoria; Manchester Airport - Victoria (via Exchange Square).

"The following services are unaffected: East Didsbury - Rochdale; Trafford Centre - Deansgate-Castlefield."

TfGM later confirmed the incident had cleared and services have resumed as normal, with some delays.
