Tottenham: Paratici has given Spurs 'advantage' amid £42m Hotspur Way bid
Tottenham Hotspur managing director Fabio Paratici ‘definitely gives Spurs an advantage’ in their attempts to sign Inter Milan central defender Alessandro Bastoni, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
The Italian, who moved to north London last summer, made good use of contacts in his homeland by signing Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus in January and it appears he will return to Serie A for another addition when the summer transfer window opens for business.
It was revealed by The Telegraph just a matter of days after the closure of the winter window that Bastoni, along with Lille star Sven Botman and RB Leipzig ace Josko Gvardiol, had worked his way onto Tottenham’s radar.
While the initial link may have come more than two months ago, Bastoni is clearly still in Paratici and head coach Antonio Conte’s thoughts as The Athletic have claimed the 23-year-old remains a potential acquisition ahead of next season.
The report suggests Spurs are set to prioritise welcoming a left-sided centre-back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer and the 11-cap Italy international is seen as a viable option.
It now seems as though the north Londoners have stepped up their interest as, according to Spanish sources, a bid worth £42million has been tabled.
However, it is understood that Inter are reluctant to sanction Bastoni’s exit and they are in a strong negotiating position due to more than two years remaining on his £122,000-per-week San Siro contract.
