Tottenham: Levy could 'back Conte' with six signings at Hotspur Way

Tottenham will back Antonio Conte with as many as six summer signings, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The Italian is hoping to build a squad to compete in the Champions League and Premier League and Taylor is confident that Conte will be given the right tools to challenge with Europe’s elite next season.

According to the Telegraph, Conte has asked the Spurs hierarchy to deliver him six new players and Daniel Levy and co. have taken the first steps in trying to match his demands by announcing a £150m cash injection last month.

And Tottenham have already acted quickly in the market, despite the window not officially opening until Friday week.

Not only are the north Londoners on the verge of signing Fraser Forster, who’s undergone a medical at Hotspur Way and is expected to replace Pierluigi Gollini as Hugo Lloris’ backup, but Conte’s men have marked their return to the Champions League with the addition of Ivan Perisic.

The Croatia international has signed a two-year deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which sees him reunite with Conte following their spell together at Inter Milan.

And Taylor expects Tottenham to complete further business in the months ahead, including the possibility of some swap deals.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I do think they will back Conte with five or six new signings, I’m just not sure they will all be in before pre-season, it will rumble on.

“We might see swap deals as well, Paratici has shown that he likes the open negotiating instead of paying straight money.

” If Spurs have got deadwood in their squad, which we know they do, there’s a lot of players that could leave and they could look to exchange those for players they actually want to sign.”
