Wolves: £50k-a-week star is now 'done' with Molineux career

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves is at a stage in his career where he needs to be playing European football, says journalist Josh Holland.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from Molineux this summer, and Holland is expecting him to secure one, believing his time at the Midlands club is done.

As per The Sun, Manchester United are eyeing Neves as manager Erik ten Hag looks to improve his midfield.

According to the same outlet, the Dutchman is a big fan of the Portuguese star, who could cost the Red Devils £50m.

As a result of Neves’ potential move to Old Trafford, The Sun claims that Wolves have made a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha and are close to signing him.

As well as United, Barcelona are also said to be interested in Neves, who has two years to run on his contract.

With Wolves failing to qualify for Europe, Holland thinks Neves will move on this summer.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “Neves I think will go. I think that’s done. He’s at the stage now where he should be playing European football, and if Wolves had kept up their early season form to get European football, I think they’d be preparing for this season with Neves.”

Neves was one of Wolves’ best players as Bruno Lage’s side went on to finish 10th in the Premier League table. With a score of 6.85, he was in the top five when it came to player ratings on WhoScored.

Looking at some of his stats, the £50,000-a-week Portugal international averaged the most passes per game in the squad (58.5) and completed the most long balls (six).
