Tottenham: 115-cap star has 'no problem' with joining Conte at Hotspur Way

Tottenham target Christian Eriksen does not have a strained relationship with Antonio Conte, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Eriksen played under Conte at Inter Milan between January 2020 and May 2021, and it was claimed that the pair did not always see eye-to-eye.

Back in November 2020, Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Conte was disappointed with Eriksen’s performances, while the player was unhappy at his lack of game time at San Siro.

At that stage, it looked like Eriksen could potentially be sold the following January.

However, the 115-cap international managed to turn things around in the second half of the season, and became a regular starter as Inter cruised to the title, with Eriksen scoring three times in his last seven top-flight appearances.

Tottenham have been linked with re-signing Eriksen, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the month, although they could face competition for his signature from Manchester United and Everton.

Ahead of this potential move, Jones has admitted that Eriksen and Conte have had problems in the past, but has claimed there is no ill-feeling between the duo anymore.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “One thing I think we just need to make clear is there’s a lot of people talking about the fact that Eriksen has a problem with Conte, and that will stop him from joining. That’s not actually true, as far as I’m told.

“He did have a tough start with Conte at Inter, there’s no doubt about that, but that was a long time ago and they got over it. If this deal doesn’t happen, then it won’t be because of that factor, as far as I’m concerned.”
