Tottenham could make 'luxury' seventh signing in 69-goal star at Hotspur Way

Tottenham Hotspur have completed their key transfer business for the summer with any subsequent deals considered to be a luxury, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Antonio Conte has been a busy man in the transfer window so far bringing in six key first-team signings but a creative presence in midfield remains high on his radar too with Leicester City’s James Maddison a reported target.

The attacking midfielder has been strongly linked with an exit from Leicester for a few seasons now with Arsenal previously said to be pushing hard for his services before signing Martin Odegaard instead.

According to FA registered intermediary and player representative Paul O’Keefe, Fabio Paratici and Conte have now turned their attention to Brendan Rodgers’ star-man Maddison.

Last season saw the 25-year-old score 18 goals and provide 12 assists in all competitions in what was an underwhelming campaign for the Foxes on all fronts. In total, he has scored 69 professional goals throughout his career.

But talk of a transfer appeared to have died down until O’Keefe’s update. Could this be the summer Maddison finally gets his move to a Champions League club?

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “The six key signings are tied up. So anything else from here is going to be considered a luxury signing. I mean, Maddison can definitely be filed under a luxury asset.”

As Jones said, it appears that the club have completed their priority business. The speed with which Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Djed Spence, Clement Lenglet and Fraser Forster were brought in this summer showed they were deals that had been in the pipeline for a while.
