Tottenham ‘will look at’ £42m Maddison alternative at Hotspur Way
Tottenham Hotspur will look at signing Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo in the remainder of the summer transfer window, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
Antonio Conte has been busy putting his mark on the club this summer but could still strengthen before the summer transfer window shuts on September 1.
Ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, six new faces have arrived at Tottenham, all of whom look set to play a part in the first team this season.
Richarlison, Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence have arrived for a combined fee of just over £90 million, while Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster have been snapped up on free transfers. Clement Lenglet’s arrival on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona completes the current recruitment drive.
But the spending is not necessarily finished there. Reports suggest that Conte is eager to add some more creativity to his side before the window closes and they have been linked with two exciting names.
Leicester City’s James Maddison is on the radar of Fabio Paratici and co while Roma winger Zaniolo is also being viewed as a potential option.
The Foxes are demanding £60 million for the services of Maddison with Newcastle currently locked in negotiations for the 25-year-old, while Zaniolo is reportedly available for £42 million.
The Daily Express reporter understands that Tottenham are considering a move for Zaniolo this summer as they look to strengthen as much as possible.
However, Taylor feels that a move for Maddison is unlikely to happen at this stage of the window.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Nicolo Zaniolo is another one that they will look at. But as far as a bid for Maddison’s concerned, it could happen but there’s nothing at the moment to suggest that it’s going to materialise.”
