Tottenham: Conte 'wants versatile player' amid link to £51m star at Hotspur Way

Tottenham want to sign a forward who can play in multiple positions this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The north London club are currently being linked with Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus, and Jones is expecting them to look at attackers with the Brazilian’s sort of versatility.

Tottenham recently announced that the club had agreed a capital increase of up to £150m from their majority shareholder ENIC Sports Inc.

As per multiple outlets, including BBC Sport, that £150m can be used on transfers and wages, which is what manager Antonio Conte will be hoping for.

The above comes after talk about a potential move for Jesus, with The Telegraph reporting that Conte and Fabio Paratici are ready to battle it out with Arsenal for the 25-year-old’s signature.

GOAL has claimed that he will cost Tottenham, Arsenal or any other club interested in his services €60m (£51m).

Amid the links to Jesus, Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Tottenham are indeed looking to bring in a versatile forward this summer.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: “From what I understand, they do want a player that can play as the main centre-forward if Kane isn’t available, but is also able to play in the other positions. So primarily, that is what they’re going to look for.”

If Conte is looking to bring a versatile attacker to Hotspur Way for the 2022/23 season, then signing Jesus makes a lot of sense.

The Brazil international can, of course, play up front and on the right flank. This term, he made 22 appearances as a striker and 15 as a right winger (via Transfermarkt). In general, he is a very good player.
