Wolves: 'Sensational' £10k-a-week star now 'worthy' of Molineux move

Wolves target Calvin Bassey has shown that he would be capable of flourishing in the Premier League, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 22-year-old has had a strong season at Rangers, which has led to him attracting interest from a number of clubs in England.

Bassey made 50 appearances in all competitions for the Gers this term, and the defender chipped in with six assists.

He finished the campaign well, and according to The Daily Record, he is wanted by five Premier League clubs and two Serie A sides.

One of those English clubs believed to be interested is Wolves, who will be looking to bolster their squad this summer after a disappointing end to the season.

Bassey particularly caught the eye during Rangers’ Europa League final defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt, with talkSPORT presenter Jason Cundy labelling him “sensational“, and he impressed again in his team’s Scottish Cup final victory over Hearts three days later.

Jones feels he has shown enough to prove that he deserves a move to England’s top-flight.

Speaking about Bassey’s future, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I think there’ll be other teams linked in the next few weeks too, because he looks to be the standout player from that Rangers team that could come straight into the Premier League.

“Obviously, there are others there too that clubs are sniffing around, but he’s the man of the moment, Bassey, and I think he does look worthy of a Premier League move.”
