"Tottenham are in the mix" – Journalist drops exciting claim on "ludicrous" £65m star

Tottenham are “in the mix” to sign Leeds star Raphinha this summer, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The north Londoners are in the process of building a team capable of challenging on all fronts and they are being linked with a move for the wantaway Brazil international.

According to The Sun, Antonio Conte’s side are in a three-way battle with Chelsea and Arsenal to bring the 25-year-old to the capital, although Barcelona remain the winger’s preferred destination.

The Gunners have made the first move after their initial bid was knocked back, with Leeds looking in the region of £65m for Raphinha, who was described as ‘ludicrous’ by The Athletic journalist Amitai Winehouse.

Meanwhile, The Athletic believe that Tottenham are considering a move for Raphinha, who scored 11 goals to help Leeds retain their Premier League status last season.

Conte already has four wingers at his disposal, but Steven Bergwijn could leave for Ajax, while Lucas Moura has not hit the heights of previous seasons, which could lead to the Spurs boss bolstering his wide department.

Spurs are also interested in Everton’s Richarlison, while the Champions League outfit are keen on PSV star Cody Gakpo, but Taylor believes they could end up winning the race to sign Raphinha if they match Leeds’ asking price.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Tottenham are in the mix for Raphinha, so I think it will literally be whoever is willing to bid the highest will get the player, that sounds pretty daft, but Leeds are looking for upwards of £50m and I think if anyone presents that kind of money, they have a good chance of signing him.”
