Tottenham: 'Stunned' claim emerges over 98-cap star at Hotspur Way

Tottenham forward Heung Min Son not being linked away from the club more often is “surprising”, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

Son has been one of the top attacking players in the Premier League for several years, but his future has never come under threat like Harry Kane‘s did last summer, despite Spurs’ failings in recent seasons.

Since the 98-cap South Korea international made the switch from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, he’s improved with every season, culminating in his first ever Golden Boot following his brace at Norwich City on Sunday.

Overall, Son has been directly involved in an incredible 205 goals in 325 Tottenham appearances, sometimes even outperforming Kane, who only managed 17 in the league in 2021-2022 for example.

This season alone, Son’s 23 goals and nine assists played a huge part in helping Antonio Conte’s side qualify for the Champions League for the first time in three years.

Despite Son’s outstanding goalscoring form, he wasn’t even nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award, even though only Mohamed Salah contributed to more goals and assists than him.

Furthermore, besides some brief links with Bayern Munich back in the summer of 2021, Son’s future in north London has never been in doubt, and Bridge has been left “stunned” by the lack of transfer activity involving the 29-year-old.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Do you know what, I heard the same thing this week and it got me thinking. I was looking at it and thought ‘yeah’, it’s a really interesting one. I’m stunned by it. So, to answer the question, I am surprised he doesn’t [get linked away more].”
