Tottenham could now 'confirm' second signing after Perisic at Hotspur Way

Tottenham are still expected to complete the signing of Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

Antonio Conte has identified the England star as the man to provide competition and cover for Hugo Lloris and despite a delay in the deal being announced, Brown is confident that Spurs will eventually get their man.

Despite strong links with Sam Johnstone, The Athletic revealed earlier this month that Forster was Conte’s ‘preferred candidate’ to become Spurs’ number two goalkeeper.

The same outlet then revealed that Forster was set to undergo a medical at Hotspur Way ahead of a penning a two-year contract with the north London outfit.

His proposed move to Tottenham hasn’t yet been officially confirmed by the club, although with Ivan Perisic now through the door following his arrival earlier today, Brown reckons the 34-year-old will eventually follow in the Croatia international’s footsteps.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think that’s basically done; I wouldn’t read anything too much into the fact it hasn’t been announced.

“All parties seem to be happy with the move, so I think that’s a matter of time before that’s confirmed.”

The Telegraph believe that Conte wants to sign six players and take advantage of the recent £150m injection of cash by putting together a squad capable of competing in the Premier League and Champions League.

Perisic got their summer business underway when he signed a two-year contract from Inter Milan, with Forster set to become the second player through the door.

And it appears that Spurs’ fast start to the window is likely to continue in the weeks ahead.
