Tonbridge Angels manager Alan Dunne adds fellow Millwall legend Tony Craig to his coaching team at Longmead

Millwall legend Tony Craig has linked up with fellow Lions great Alan Dunne at Tonbridge Angels.

Craig, 41, who retired from playing in the final weeks of last season, has joined Angels boss and former team-mate Dunne’s coaching team.

The defender enjoyed four spells at the Den, making more than 330 appearances.

He won two League 1 play-off finals, captaining the side to their 2017 triumph against Bradford City at Wembley.

Craig also played more than 120 times for Brentford during his 23-year professional career, along with stints at Bristol Rovers, Crystal Palace and Leyton Orient.

He finished his career at Dorking Wanderers, retiring after breaking his leg in a National League South game at Horsham on Good Friday.

Tonbridge manager Dunne, who made almost 400 appearances for Millwall, told the Angels website: “I’ve shared a changing room many times with Tony and I know what he’s about.

“He wears his heart on his sleeve and he’s a winner.

“He’s got a great name in the game and has a massive aura around him. He’s seen what we’re about, wants to be part of it, and I’m delighted to have him here as part of the team.”

Craig is looking forward to his first coaching job in men’s football after hanging up his boots, although he’s been working in the youth set-up at Millwall for several years.

“I’m really pleased to start the next chapter of my career,” Craig told the club’s media team.

“I’ve got my A badges and licence and I’ve been working with Millwall U16s for three years and have plenty of experience of going into first-team environments.

“Obviously I’ve known Dunney for a good number of years. We’re quite similar characters and he’s sold the Tonbridge project to me and I want to be a part of the journey.”
