Todd Cantwell urges Rangers to park PSV and focus on healing Rugby Park pain in the Highlands

Todd Cantwell has told Rangers to put PSV to one side and focus on soothing their Rugby Park pain in Dingwall this weekend.

Michael Beale’s side stand 90 minutes away from a potential Champions League return next Wednesday. But before their £20million final eliminator in Eindhoven, Gers first face a Highland trek as they travel north to take on Ross County. And Cantwell is well aware his side cannot afford another misstep after allowing Celtic to snatch an early march in the title race with their surprise slip-up to Kilmarnock on the Premiership’s opening day.

The Ibrox playmaker said: “For us, genuinely, our most important game is the weekend. We have to go there and try to beat Ross County away, which is not always as easy as it sounds. We need to go there, put in a really strong, solid performance, get three points then look forward to the away leg.

“The result at Kilmarnock hurt. It hurt everyone. It hurt the manager, it hurt the players, it hurt absolutely everyone involved at the club. We don’t want to be part of that, we want to be part of nights like Tuesday night.”

The 1-0 defeat to Derek McInnes’ team unleashed a wave of criticism as fans and pundits took turns to aim swipes at Beale’s batch of summer signings. But Cantwell is confident the new recruits have cottoned on quick to the soaring demands required of them at Ibrox.
