Todd Cantwell talks with Blackburn begin and Kristian Arnstad 'linked' – Rangers transfer state of play

Todd Cantwell could join Blackburn Rovers by the end of the week with initial talks over the midfielder under way.

The Rangers midfielder handed in a transfer request with boss Philippe Clement recently revealing that his mind was made up in wanting to leave Scotland. He hasn't been used by the Belgian boss in the opening weeks of the campaign and now he could be set for a return back to England with the Championship side. And Record Sport understands the Ewood Park outfit ARE keen on a switch and both the option for a loan until the summer or a permanent switch are on the table as Cantwell weighs up his future.

He joined the Govan club during Michael Beale's reign in the same window as Nico Raskin but his time at Ibrox could come to an end by Friday when the transfer window slams shut for business. It comes as reports suggest Rangers are keeping tabs on Norway Under-21 international Kristian Arnstad. The 20-year-old - who is in the final year of his deal - wants an exit from Anderlecht.

Meanwhile, Rangers will need to splash out £5million if they want to sign Ibrahim Adel. Sources in Cairo claim the Ibrox club are keen on the Pyramids FC winger and Record Sport have been told they'd need to act fast to get the deal done before the deadline with EPL new boys Ipswich and Leicester City also mulling over a move. His preference is a dream move to England's top flight but he hasn't ruled out the possibility of using Ibrox as a stepping stone on the way to achieving his ideal end game.

Elsewhere, the future of Ianis Hagi remains up in the air while the likes of Leon King and Alex Lowry has been liked with moves elsewhere. Clement has already shipped out Ben Davies to Birmingham City and more fringe men could follow to free
