Todd Cantwell embraces nickname from Rangers cynics with loaded 'TikTok' jibe amid cup final party

Todd Cantwell has put his critics in their place - referring to the 'TikTok' barb thrown at him about his social media usage.

The Rangers playmaker was the pantomime villain at Hampden for Aberdeen as he was on the receiving end of a few bumps and bruises, something he reckons he's become accustomed to since arriving at Ibrox from Norwich City just under a year ago. And while Cantwell has been the butt of jokes for rivals at times for his activity on the likes of Instagram and TikTok pre and post matches, the 25-year-old used his platform to bask in the glory of winning the Viaplay Cup, his first trophy since joining the Light Blues last year.

He posted a picture of himself to Instagram with the trophy and the caption "Just a boy with a Tik Tok account" while Gers fans lapped up the pointed dig. Cantwell was involved in more than a few flashpoints at Hampden, most notably with Aberdeen's Graeme Shinnie including a supposed shirt pull that was pored over by pundits.

The Englishman was on the receiving end of a few bumps and bruises, but admitted he's been accustomed to it, saying: "I've been accustomed to that sort of treatment so far, but no complaints from me. Listen it's a game a football, a very competitive one and Aberdeen made it really difficult. We had to play to the conditions, it was really boggy out there."
