Todd Cantwell clamps Rangers fan fury as diehards explode over deleted 'shushburger' he served up

Angry Rangers supporters have hit out at Todd Cantwell over a seres of social media posts before the Ibrox star shut up shop to keep his snipers at bay.

The former Norwich City playmaker – a vocal presence on social media – deleted an image from his Instagram stories which read 'shushburger please' after he had been called out by Ibrox punters for uploading a picture of him celebrating his goal in Saturday's 3-3 draw with Hearts. It comes after Fabio Silva was served up flak after posting similar.

Rangers fans, in their droves, called out Cantwell and stressed the Englishman was falling below Ibrox "standards" for, in their eyes, celebrating a draw in the wake of an error-strewn end to the season which saw Rangers go from title contenders to finishing eight points behind Celtic. It’s just the latest social media post from Cantwell that has sparked controversy.

He re-uploaded the picture without the offending caption and then turned off his comments on Instagram after they had been swarmed by supporters who expect better. And the message was made clear to the midfielder over what is needed with a Scottish Cup Final against Celtic looming.

One fan, summed up the mood, by posting: "Cup Final this week and we're busy posting instagram(s) from a game we f****** yet again. For once this year just do your talking on the pitch lads FFS." And another added: "3-1 up in this game, you lot just don't get it."
