Maidstone United release 11 players as new manager Craig Fagan gets to work at the Gallagher Stadium

New Maidstone United manager Craig Fagan has got to work - with 11 players leaving the club.

The list includes injured striker Mo Faal, who ruptured his ACL minutes after scoring in a 2-1 win over Weston last month.

United had an option on the player, who rejoined the club as a free agent in January, but won’t be taking it up.

Also leaving the Gallagher Stadium are goalkeeper Nathan Harness, defenders David Sesay, David Agbontohoma and Lexus Beeden, midfielders Jacob Berkeley-Agyepong and Malachi Mbogba, and attacking players Dajon Golding, Jamie Yila, Ruben Carvalho and Christie Pattisson.

Defender Taylor Foran was already under contract for next season, having joined from Bromley on an 18-month deal, while Maidstone have taken up options on left-back Leo Hamblin and midfielder Riley Court, who won both the supporters’ player and players’ player-of-the year awards.

Eight players have been offered contracts for next season, including long-serving skipper Sam Corne and vice-captain George Fowler, key men in midfield and defence respectively.

Lenny Holden, who ended the season as first-choice keeper, has also been offered terms, along with midfielders TJ Bramble, John Gilbert and Jephte Tanga, and forwards Hamzad Kargbo and teenager Mark Boruk.

Fagan, who’s succeeded George Elokobi as manager, held face-to-face meetings with the squad alongside head of recruitment Zach Foster-Crouch.

United ended the National League South season in eighth place, missing out on the play-offs on goal difference.

“To those players leaving the club, we offer our sincere thanks for their efforts during their time at the Gallagher, and wish them every success in the future,” said the Stones.
