Thunderstorms and heavy rain hit Greater Manchester amid yellow weather warning

Greater Manchester has been hit by torrential rain and thunderstorms.

A yellow thunderstorm warning is currently in place as storms hit this afternoon and again in the evening.

The warning is in place from 9am until 11.59pm. It covers all of our region, as well as much of England and Scotland.

Forecasters had predicted heavy showers and thunderstorms following warm and sunny day today. In the areas covered by the warning, there could be some flooding, the Met Office predicts.
