This Morning fans ask same question as Holly Willoughby breaks silence on This Morning's NTA loss after 13 years

Viewers were left asking the same question as Holly Willoughby returned to This Morning after a major loss at the National Television Awards. The ITV daytime show was nominated in the 'Daytime' award category despite a turbulent time behind-the-scenes of the popular programme in recent months following the Phillip Schofield scandal.

The 61-year-old initially 'stepped back' from his role on the ITV daytime show after more than 20 years as he said rumours about his fractured relationship behind the scenes with Holly Willoughby had 'become the story' However, he then issued his resignation a week later after he admitted to an “unwise but not illegal” relationship with a younger male colleague on the show.

But since then, This Morning has also faced claims of toxicity and bullying behind the scenes. Despite the issues, the programme was shortlisted for the 'daytime' gong at the NTAs which took place on Tuesday night (September 5) at London's O2 Arena.

Holly Willoughby led the This Morning stars hitting the red carpet alongside Alison Hammond, Dermot O'Leary, Rochelle Humes, and Craig Doyle before being placed up close and centre in the arena as the show waited to discover its fate.

But the programme, that had been on a winning streak having taken home the gong at the awards ceremony every year since 2011, lost its best daytime show title at the 2023 NTAs as The Repair Shop claimed the prestigious prize with host Jay Blades making the acceptance speech.
