'Snubbed' Holly Willoughby reveals how she ended NTAs amid gracious loser message after fans' 'tears' observation

Holly Willoughby has revealed how she ended her night at the National Television Awards after sharing a gracious loser message following This Morning's loss at the awards. The presenter was out representing the ITV daytime show she fronts at one of the biggest nights in the showbiz calendar.

The stars of the small screen were out in force for the ceremony, hosted by Joel Dommett, at London's O2 Arena. This Morning were nominated in the 'daytime' award category despite a turbulent time behind-the-scenes of the popular programme in recent months following the Phillip Schofield scandal.

And on Tuesday night (September 5), This Morning, who had been on a winning streak having taken home the gong every year since 2011, lost its best daytime show title at the 2023 NTAs as The Repair Shop claimed the prestigious prize.

The BBC One show's host Jay Blades encouraged the crowd to cheer as the show’s team took to the stage and snapped a picture of the moment as he noted it was a "rarity" for them to be winning the prize. He thanked those who voted and the team behind the show, adding: "I would like to salute my experts, they are my family."

He also praised his fellow nominees at This Morning, The Chase and Loose Women, saying: “We’re the new kids on the block and I’m glad we’ve won this time. I know it won’t be a regular thing so thank you.”

Following the awards, Holly took to Instagram to congratulate Jay and the whole The Repair Shop team for their win, giving them the “Hugest Congratulations”. Sharing a selfie of herself and Jay at the star-studded bash, the mum-of-three typed on Instagram: "To this gorgeous man @jaybladesmbe and the
