Third man charged with murder over death of 'gentle giant' Warren Burns

Detectives investigating a fatal attack on a dad from south Manchester have charged a third man with murder.

Warren Burns, 37, died following an incident at a property on Heysham Avenue in Withington on May 21.

Today (Saturday) Greater Manchester Police said officers have charged a third man with murder.

Ryan White, 28, of no fixed abode, appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court this morning where he was remanded in custody, according to GMP.

Siblings Brandon White, 20, of Radstock Close, Fallowfield, and Damian White, 33, of Woodham Road, Northern Moor, have previously been charged with murder. They appeared at Manchester Crown Court on Wednesday. No pleas were entered.

Following his death, Mr Burns' family paid tribute to him. They said in a statement: "Warren was a much-loved son, brother, partner and father, which he absolutely loved.

"He was a larger-than-life character with a gentle soul, and he was often referred to as a gentle giant. He was very fun loving, and livened up any event he attended.

"Life will not be the same without him. It’s heart-breaking that he will never see his children grow up and experience all that life has to offer - he simply was the best, a true legend and he will be greatly missed."

Mr Burns died in hospital on Sunday, May 21, after he was assaulted at an address on Heysham Avenue in Fallowfield, said GMP.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicola McCulloch, of GMP's Major Incident Team, said: "We are determined to get justice for Warren and bring closure to his family who have been left devastated by this loss.
