The weekend walk near Greater Manchester with incredible views and a waterfall

After a wet start to January when it felt like the rain was never going to end, the weather is set to turn colder and drier over the coming days - perfect conditions for going on a winter walk. Don’t let the chilly temperatures put you off; instead wrap up warm, lace up your walking boots and enjoy a bracing hike in the great outdoors.

We’re spoilt for choice in Greater Manchester as we have some amazing walking routes right on our doorstep. From the Forest of Bowland to the Peak District, there’s miles upon miles of countryside to explore nearby.

You’ll find plenty of stunning walks just over the border in Cheshire too, including the hike up White Nancy. This intriguing white structure is perched at the top of Kerridge Hill, overlooking the town of Bollington, and offers panoramic views from the top.

Thanks to its location on the Kerridge Ridge, White Nancy serves as a focal point for walkers in the area.

From the top there are extensive views across the Cheshire Plain and on a clear day you can see as far as the mountains of North Wales to the west, the hills of Shropshire to the south and the Pennines to the north and east.
