The Traitors-style castle you can stay in 90 minutes from Greater Manchester

Viewers of The Traitors have been gripped by the latest series of the BBC show. Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, it features 22 strangers who are competing to win a prize fund of up to £120,000.

But among the players - known as the faithfuls - are a group of traitors who are tasked with killing the faithful off without being caught. In each episode all the players participate in missions where they have to work as a team to win money for the prize fund, but every night they must banish someone for good at the round table in the hope that they are a traitor.

The drama unfolds in a magnificent castle in the Scottish Highlands. The series is actually filmed at Ardross Castle, a 19th century house and estate north of Inverness. However, the contestants don’t actually sleep in the castle, instead staying in a hotel near Inverness' airport.

Ardross Castle is available to hire for parties and corporate events; sadly you can’t book out rooms individually. Although, if watching the Traitors has put you in the mood for a castle-themed stay, there is one closer to home which you can book on Airbnb.

Tan-yr-Ogo Lodge is a castle-like gate lodge in the grounds of Gwyrch Castle near Abergele in North Wales.
