The rousing Ange Postecoglou message Celtic stars hear 'every day' as boss gets honest over 50/50 Rangers fan split

Ange Postecoglou admits the 50/50 split at Hampden will make Sunday's showdown with Rangers a better derby than previous clashes.

And the boss says he's been telling his players to grab every opportunity to get on the pitch and make their mark in front of the Celtic fans - not just the cup finals. The boss addressed the media ahead of Sunday's huge Viaplay Cup final as the two Glasgow giants go head to head at this stage in the competition for the first time since 2019.

It will be in front of a sold out national stadium split down the middle with Celtic and Rangers fans. And while Postecoglou knows playing the derby in front of a packed out Parkhead with a miniscule away support gives them a huge advantage, he admits from a spectacle perspective, he prefers it the other way.

When asked if the 50/50 split makes it a better atmosphere he responded honestly: "I think it does, yeah. It's a different atmosphere, it's a real derby atmosphere. Obviously when we play at Ibrox or Celtic Park, the atmosphere is very parochial in one way.

"For the home team I think that's an advantage. We feel that when we play at Celtic Park, having 60,000 fans helps us. But in terms of a spectacle and a derby, having it split, particularly in a Cup Final, adds to the theatre of it. I think the players enjoy that because you get a bit of everything in there."

He was then asked if he sees the game as a big opportunity to add another trophy to his burgeoning collection having already won the league and this trophy last season. But he said: "I treat every game as an opportunity, I say that to the players. Age and experience gives you wisdom, I know what it's like when your playing career ends, you miss it all.

"You miss training, you miss the bad
