Ange Postecoglou takes Celtic VAR swipe as boss insists it misses nothing 'especially with us'

Ange Postecoglou has taken a thinly-veiled swipe at VAR after his side conceded a penalty and had one overturned during their Premiership win over St Mirren.

The Celtic manager bemoaned the officials after referee David Dickinson awarded a spot-kick to the home side after a VAR check showed Greg Taylor handled the ball in the area. St Mirren captain Mark O'Hara stepped forward and slotted the penalty kick past Joe Hart in the Celtic goal to make it 1-0 in the sixth minute.

The Parkhead side went into the break a goal down but a man up after Richard Dunne was sent off for Stephen Robinson's men on the 38th minute. Dickinson awarded Celtic a penalty, however another check by VAR judged that the contact was outside the box and instead they were given a free-kick on the edge of the box. The subsequent free-kick led to nothing and the champions went into the half-time break 1-0 down.

However, goals from Jota and Alistair Johnston turned the game on its head and substitutes Liel Abada, Matt O'Riley and Oh Hyeon-gyu all scored as Celtic triumphed 5-1 and restored their nine-point lead over Rangers at the top of the cinch Premiership.

In his post-match interview, Postecoglou didn't hold back his frustrations with VAR. He told Sportsound: "VAR doesn’t miss anything by the looks of it - especially with us."

Just moments later he told Sky Sports: "VAR doesn't miss anything and it didn't miss anything today."
