"The owners want..." - talkSPORT reporter drops Wolves claim as Molineux star "will probably go"

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans’ favourite Ruben Neves is likely to secure a move away from Molineux during the upcoming transfer window, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Neves became Wolves’ club-record signing when he completed a £15.8million switch from Portuguese giants Porto close to five years ago, but it appears he could be set to move onto pastures new.

Wolves ended the Premier League season with a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool and, following the encounter, Neves raised expectations for him to leave the club.

That is because the central midfielder failed to confirm that he will be staying at Molineux ahead of the 2022/23 campaign and, instead, admitted he has ‘dreams to live in a short space of time’.

Neves is set to enter the final 12 months of his £58,000-per-week contract and although Wolves have opened talks over a new deal, suitors are circling.

Spanish sources have claimed Barcelona have moved a step closer towards sealing Neves’ Nou Camp arrival as his agent, Jorge Mendes, believes he can negotiate favourable terms for the La Liga side.

But Manchester United, Arsenal and Juventus are also understood to be interested in striking a deal, while Wolves would only entertain selling the 25-year-old if a bid of £70million is lodged.

Crook believes the Wolves hierarchy – led by the Fosun Group – could be willing to offload Neves if the right offer is tabled during the summer transfer window, which opens for business next month.

The talkSPORT reporter feels the 26-cap Portugal international is likely to head through the Molineux exit door.
