The Mateusz Zukowski Rangers transfer ripple effect that could kickstart right back recruitment drive at Ibrox

Forgotten Rangers defender Mateusz Zukowski could spark a late dip into the transfer market for Gio van Bronckhorst and sporting director Ross Wilson - with reports suggesting he could be leaving Ibrox.

In January, Rangers beat off interest from Legia Warsaw to land the player now in a deal understood to be worth around £400,000 from Lechia Gdasnk but the move hasn't worked out so far for either party. The Polish youth international has struggled for game time since his arrival at Ibrox, making just one appearance so far for Van Bronckhorst 's side in last season's Scottish Cup clash with Annan, despite initially being viewed at Ibrox as a replacement for Nathan Patterson after his switch to Everton.

The 20-year-old has been limited to appearances for the B team rather than acting as back-up for captain James Tavernier, most recently being handed minutes in the Challenge Cup rout of Dumbarton. Reports in Poland suggest that he could be on the move before the end of the transfer window.

Polish outlet Meczyki claim that Lech Poznan are looking to seal a deal before September 1. The report states that the Polish champions are looking to add depth to their squad ahead of their Europe Conference League campaign.

That could leave skipper Tavernier as the only recognised right-back at Ibrox heading into a jam-packed season with a fight for the Scottish Premiership title and Champions League football around the corner. That's before The Light Blues start their Premier Sports Cup campaign against Queen of the South on Tuesday, before they looked to defend the Scottish Cup later this term.

James Sands has offered cover at right-back previously, but Colt team player Adam Devine would most likely be left to fill the hole
