Cruciate woe for Cork star Ashling Thompson
Cork will have to plan without Ashling Thompson for the foreseeable future after the star midfielder suffered a cruciate ligament injury.
Milford woman Thompson, who was instrumental in the Rebelettes' All-Ireland semi-final win over Waterford this year after overturning a suspension, injured her knee in action for divisional side Avondhu.
Cork manager Matthew Twomey confirmed the injury to The Echo and said that the 32-year-old would meet with a surgeon next week to discuss her options for recovery.
The four-time All-Ireland champion, who was a winning captain in 2015, will hope to be back in action by next year's championship.
