Leading Rangers scout 'leaves' Ibrox as he takes up new FA role

Rangers’ leading domestic Robert Clarkson has left Ibrox to take up a position with The FA, according to a report. Clarkson was appointed by former director of football Mark Allen five years ago as part of a scouting team put together.

But The Athletic now say Clarkson has departed for a new role as part of The FA’s talent ID Programme from U18 to senior level. His move to Ibrox came as part of a scouting rebuild after it had been neglected following the club's financial collapse.

And his exit comes shortly after the exit of former head of scouting Andy Scoulding who joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. Ex Celtic and Hibs talent spotter John Park joined Rangers recently as part of a reshuffle but sporting director Ross Wilson now has to deal with the departure of Clarkson at a time when the club’s recruitment has come under real scrutiny.
