The Manchester café opening its doors on Christmas Day for a special reason

Amidst the holiday season, Loaf MCR is preparing cakes and hot drinks to welcome everyone - especially those solo - on Christmas.

Situated in the heart of Manchester on Oxford Street, this café opens its doors wide on 25 December to embrace solo celebrants, offering a warm escape for those seeking a sprinkle of sweetness and holiday cheer.

Aiden Ryan, the man behind this venture, said: "Christmas is a time for joy and family, but let's be real – it's not all tinsel and candy canes for everyone. We wanted to create a space where anyone feeling the Christmas blues or just looking for a cosy spot can pop in, grab a slice of heaven, and share some laughs.

"And for those watching the pennies, as an extra sprinkle of kindness, Loaf will be be serving up complimentary hot drinks for those whose wallets might be feeling a little light.

“Nobody should spend Christmas without warmth of any kind. All you need to do is ask for a ‘pink cup’ when at the till and say no more!”

Every year, Aiden, owner of Loaf, joins his family in gifting presents to the homeless in the city centre on Christmas Day and spending some time with them. This year he wants to make it more of a community event and asks if people want to drop in a small gift with a short description of what’s inside to their store on Oxford Street.

If you are able to give anything such as toiletries, gloves, scarves, or you can give toys, books… These presents can be for someone without a home or to someone alone – at any age. Donations will be accepted up until 10am on 25
