Bomb squad and police scrambled to street after 'hoax call'

Bomb disposal experts and police officers were called to a street in Gorton after a 'hoax call'.

Emergency crews were alerted to 'suspicious circumstances' on Haxby Road in the early hours of this morning (Friday). A report was made to officers at around 3.15am, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

A scene was put in place on the street. The bomb squad was dispatched but the report was believed to be a hoax call, the Manchester Evening News understands.

The GMP spokesperson confirmed 'no threats were found'. No injuries were reported.

No arrests have been made. This morning, the street was clear with police having left the scene.
