The hotels less than two hours from Manchester named among The Times Best Places to Stay 2024

Two luxury Lake District hotels less than a couple of hours from Manchester have been named among the best places to stay in 2024 and given special awards.

The Times and Sunday Times has unveiled its definitive list of the 100 Best Places to stay in the UK with two spots across the border in Cumbria winning in different categories.

Each year experts travel the length and breadth of the UK visiting hundreds of properties to uncover the very best hotels the country has to offer. Every aspect of the hotels are critiqued from their interiors to the food served with only 100 making the final guide.

The guide is split into nine regions: London, Southeast, Southwest, Central, East, North, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland. There are also winners in ten different categories; Beach, Boutique, Cheap and Chic, City, Countryside, Foodie, Hotels for Kids, London, Pubs with Rooms, and Romance.

This year the publisher’s experts were on the lookout for “interesting openings and news of established hotels reinventing themselves”, as well as delicious food, and were blown away by Langdale Chase in Windermere named ‘North hotel of the year’ and Farlam Hall in Brampton crowned ‘Foodie hotel of the year’.

Langdale Chase on the shores of Lake Windermere, has achieved the accolade after only recently reopening following an extensive year long restoration that has returned it to its former glory.

The gothic hotel reopened its doors in December with a more contemporary look that has been praised in the guide as a ‘classy revival’.
