Hamid said: "I was completely empty-handed and had to start from scratch. I couldn't speak the language at all, didn't know anyone in the country, and had no bank account, and no connections.

"It took me about a year to get settled, familiarise myself with people and businesses, and learn the language by immersing myself in the culture and reading books.

"It took another six months to get my first job. I created a business plan which significantly increased profits, bought a share of the company, and now, five years later, I'm the boss."
