The fierce sibling loyalty that turned a man into a killer

As he waited in his sister's living room, he knew someone was coming. Exhausted, paranoid and motivated by a fierce loyalty to his older sibling Tara, Liam Fosbrook was readying himself for a fight.

Barely able to keep his tired eyes open, he heard a tap at the back door. A blurred figure moved behind the frosted glass.

Surging with adrenaline - and clutching a knife - Fosbrook leapt out. Moments later, Dylan Towers was struggling to breathe, hanging onto the garden fence begging for help.

The explosion of violence wasn't a surprise. It followed Tara's break-up with Dylan, 35. Their complicated, turbulent relationship had come to an end, but Dylan couldn't let go. Things started to turn nasty.

Police had been called multiple times as he became a 'nuisance'. The instability at home led to social services getting involved with Tara's children, Minshull Street Crown Court heard.

And so, in the cold December of 2021, when Dylan turned up outside the mother's home once again, Fosbrook, then 26, took it upon himself to 'sort out' the man who had blighted his sister's life.

Twelve days later, Dylan was dead. The confrontation had left him with a large wound to his neck. Organ failure and repeated cardiac arrests followed.

Now, after two trials, Fosbrook has been convicted of manslaughter. He faces years behind bars.

One of four siblings, Fosbrook lived a relatively normal life. Surrounded by a supportive and close-knit family and a huge group of friends, he seemed every bit the down-to-earth young man.
