The exact fee Hibs will bank from Josh Doig to Marseille transfer as SEVEN figure boost to help fund two signings

Hibs are set for a seven-figure windfall from Josh Doig as the left-back gets ready to join Marseille from Hellas Verona.

Doig had attracted interest from Rangers and Torino this window but it's the French side who appear to have won the race to pry him away from Verona. 21-year-old Doig has impressed despite his team's poor form and has shown in his 35 appearances in his 18 months in Serie A - where he has contributed to six goals - that he's a capable full-back in one of the top European leagues.

Hibs sold Doig for around £3m in the summer of 2022 but part of the agreement to sell him was that they would bank 27.5 per cent of any future sale. And it looks as if that was an astute bit of business with Verona now set to sell him on for a tidy profit. Reports in Italy say Marseille have agreed terms on a €5m (£4.3m) fee for Doig.

And that means Hibs will bank just under £1.2m for the left-back (£1,182,500 to be exact). That's over and above the initial £3m they sold him for. Their total intake from Doig's two moves will stand at £4.2m...more or less what Verona are getting for him in this window.

That windfall could help fund incomings this window as Nick Montgomery hands former Leeds United forward Adryan the chance to win a deal. The Brazilian featured as a trialist as the Easter Road side lost 5-1 to Servette in a friendly at their Dubai winter break training base today.

Leeds defender Kris Moore also featured and Montgomery will continue to assess the pair ahead of making a decision on whether to deal them in this month.
