The beautiful walk in Greater Manchester bursting with flowers this spring
Spring is synonymous with daffodils, bluebells, blossoms and more. Over the coming weeks nature puts on some of its most spectacular displays as blooms in every colour imaginable burst into life.
Some of these colourful displays can be fleeting, so make the most of spring flowers while you can. We’re lucky in Greater Manchester that there are lots of places on our doorstep where you can enjoy a good walk and take in gorgeous spring scenery.
One place with an incredible range of flowers on display is RHS Bridgewater. It covers an impressive 154-acre site in Salford, which was formerly the estate of Worsley New Hall, so it’s perfect for a leisurely stroll.

It’s packed full of horticultural delights and a range of different gardens, including the Weston Walled Garden, which is one of the largest Victorian walled gardens in the UK. It contains two inner walled gardens, the Paradise Garden and the Kitchen Garden, along with a series of connecting gardens around the perimeter, enclosed by a lower-level outer wall.
As well as carefully designed gardens, the site includes beautiful woodland, the Chinese Streamside Garden and Ellesmere Lake. There’s a fun play area for kids too.
If you visit this spring you’ll spot a sea of daffodils in the Orchard, the result of 20,000 bulbs which were planted over the last two years. The golden blooms are popping up in the Community Wellbeing garden, soon to be followed by tulips and alliums later in the season.
In the Worsley Welcome Garden you can see camellia blooms and willows sprouting fluffy catkins. The Bee and Butterfly Garden is also springing to life with pots full of hyacinths,
