The 3 Dundee fixtures impacted by fresh Dens Park woes as Premier Sports Cup relocation plan deployed

Dundee have announced that they will play their two home games in the Premier Sports Cup away from Dens Park in order to get the pitch in prime condition ahead of the new Premiership season.

Tony Docherty's side kicked off their League Cup campaign with a 7-1 hammering away to Bonnyrigg Rose on Saturday and will make the short trip to Gayfield to take on Arbroath in their next group fixture on Tuesday night. But the club have now confirmed that their final two matches in Group D - which come in home clashes against Annan Athletic and Inverness will both be held at Brechin's Glebe Park, 26 miles away from Dundee.

Following major issued with the turf at Dens Park last season which resulted in several matches having to be postponed - including two call-offs against Rangers - Dee bosses say they have invested heavily on the surface of their first home game of the season in the Premiership against Hearts on Saturday, August 10.

The club have installed 200 tonnes of root zone to improve the playing surface and shared images on social media of the pitch's current condition following the renovations. Dundee head groundsman Paul Murray has outlined the decision for the temporary relocation to Brechin.

He said: "Firstly I would like to thank the club for their continued backing throughout the entire renovation process. The renovation has not been without its challenges, but with the club's full support, we have managed to overcome these issues to help the process run as smoothly as possible.
