Teboho’s tears as Bafana dream on at World Cup: ‘I was thinking of my grandfather’

Teboho Mokoena became emotional all over again when he was asked what had brought him to tears when the South African national anthem was sung on Thursday, just before Bafana Bafana took on Czechia at Atlanta Stadium.

The sight of an emotional Mokoena, as the South Africans on the pitch and in the stands belted Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika, in the second round of Group A’s FIFA World Cup match, captured the imagination of the global football audience.
