Swansea City U21s 3-1 Hull City U21s: Congreve, Davies and Abdulai strike in front of Russell Martin

Swansea City's Under-21s secured their third successive win by beating Hull City 3-1 at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The hosts were rampant from the outset and raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of strikes from Cameron Congreve and Ruben Davies.

Josh Hinds pulled a goal back for the young Tigers, although Azeem Abdulai notched his side's third late on as the Swans clinched all three points to register their third win in as many matches at the home of the senior side this term in front of 476 supporters.

Anthony Wright's men - in their first match following Jon Grey's switch to the Football Association of Wales - dominated proceedings from the word go, and while they were willing to show patience in possession, they didn't have long to wait before making the breakthrough.

Congreve got a second bite of the cherry following a slick one-two in the Hull box, and his low shot was too firm for Dave Robson to keep out as the Swans took a deserved early lead.

And it got better just two minutes later as the lively Liam Smith picked out Davies - fresh from netting four in the first-half of Friday's 5-3 win over Ipswich Town - who rifled into the roof of the net via the crossbar to put the hosts in total command.

Given Russell Martin's comments on the importance of the club's academy following the senior side's dramatic 3-2 South Wales derby win over Cardiff City on Saturday, the onlooking head coach will undoubtedly have been thrilled with the style, confidence and control the young guns were showing.
