Swansea City 4-2 Preston North End: Russell Martin's men win thriller as brawl erupts late on

Swansea City survived a second-half comeback as their stunning run continued with a 4-2 win over Preston North End.

The Swans dominated the opening half at the Swansea.com Stadium and led 3-0 at the break courtesy of goals from Joel Piroe, Joe Allen and Harry Darling.

But Preston rallied in the second-half and got back into the contest thanks to efforts from Tom Cannon and Troy Parrott, although, after tempers flared late on - with Allen and Ryan Lowe both being sent off - Piroe netted his second of the night at the death to round off a dramatic success for the home side.

Russell Martin made three changes to the side that started Saturday's 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town as Allen, Darling and Ollie Cooper came in for Jamie Paterson, Olivier Ntcham and Jay Fulton who all dropped to the bench.

The Swans wasted no time in showing their class as Allen found space on the right flank before picking out Piroe who coolly slotted beyond former Swan Freddie Woodman to put the hosts ahead with little more than a minute on the clock.

It typified the confidence Swansea have played with of late, and, even with several tweaks which included Joel Latibeaudiere operating at left-back, Martin's men looked wonderfully slick.

Ryan Lowe's troops looked threatening from set-pieces and grew in confidence after that early setback, although Andy Fisher commanded his box well after, in truth, having precious little to deal with.
