'Sucked into trouble' - TalkSPORT man now drops 'churlish' Leeds claim live-on-air

Leeds United could be in a bad position next season and face being ‘sucked into trouble’ for their Premier League survival after potentially losing their ‘two best players’ this summer, according to Talk Sports journalist Alex Crook.

Despite signing players like Marc Roca, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen so far this summer, the Whites could find themselves in hot water next season as it looks like star man Kalvin Phillips is set to join Manchester City and Raphinha could go to Arsenal.

Talk Sport’s Crook believes that a relegation battle could be a reality once again as they faced this issue with the likes of Phillips and Raphinha in the squad and is not yet convinced by manager Jesse Marsch after an uncomfortable finish to the season.

He said on Talk Sport, “When you look at how close they were to relegation last season even with Raphinha in the team, obviously Phillips missed a lot of the season injured so did Patrick Bamford. I’m still not totally sold on Jesse Marsch, which seems slightly churlish because I think they would have gone down if Bielsa stayed in charge… but it looked far dicier maybe for longer than the owners expected.

“So, if you’re asking me about a team who could possibly be sucked into trouble alongside the newly promoted clubs… I think Leeds could be that team especially when you factor in the fact, they’re going to lose their two best players.” (7:17)

TIF Thoughts on Crook’s comments…

Leeds struggled last season with injuries to key players like Patrick Bamford and Phillips and therefore heavily relied on Raphinha to carry the burden of their Premier League survival as he topped their scoring list with 11 goals in all competitions.

They now face losing these 11 goals without an evident
