Stuart McKinstry bravely bares all over transfer uncertainty as former Leeds United man puts himself on the market

Former Leeds United winger Stuart McKinstry admitted he is open to offers in a bid to get his career back on track.

The 21-year-old is still out-of-contract after turning down a new deal at Queen’s Park. The ex-Motherwell player is waiting to see what the next chapter holds but has admitted he is keen to get back playing at the highest level he can. McKinstry said: “I am open to anything, whether that be Scotland, England or something abroad. It has been hard since I left Queen’s Park but I have been working hard on my fitness and I’ve also played in a few bounce games.

“I've had a couple of bits of interest but clubs have said they need to free up budget or move players on. It is just about being patient and waiting for the right opportunity because things can move very quickly in the transfer window. I am fit, ready and just waiting for that next challenge in my career.”

McKinstry has crammed a lot into his young career, coming through the ranks at Motherwell, going to Leeds and playing in the English Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa and then returning to Fir Park to get a taste of the Scottish Premiership with his boyhood club. McKinstry admitted: “I obviously had a successful spell in the Championship with Queen’s Park last season.

“I have also played in the Premiership with Motherwell and I have been down at Leeds United in the Premier League. When I was at Motherwell I played and took my chance but things only changed when the new manager (Stuart Kettlewell) came in and he played a system without wingers.

“I have been down in England and going back there is a possibility or even abroad. I would look at anything that I felt was right for myself and the next stage in my career.”
