Customers 'gutted' as popular Greater Manchester restaurant announces closure

A popular sushi restaurant in Salford has closed its doors for good. Bosses at the Koi Sushi and Oriental in Worsley took to social media to break the news after its final weekend of trading.

The eatery said that Monday (August 5) was its last day as operating as a business and thanked the local community for their support.

On Facebook, a post read: "Customer notice. As from 05/08/24 Koi Sushi Oriental will no longer be open.

"We are closing our restaurant. From the owner and staff we would like to say thank you for all your custom and support.

"Thank you again. Koi sushi team."

Found on Bridgewater Road in Worsley, Koi Sushi was known for their blend of Japanese and East Asian cuisine. While sushi was its flagship product, the takeaway also provided dishes such as fried rice, miso soup and dumplings.

Hundreds of devastated punters took to the comments to voice their disappointment and offer well wishes to staff. One commenter said: "I am so sorry to hear this."

Another added: Gutted! We love having a meal at KOI sushi and oriental restaurant ,Worsley. One of our favourite restaurants and takeaways!"

One more person chimed in and said: "This is awful news. Thank you for all your delicious food over the years.

"Nobody could compare to your sushi. I wish the staff all the best for the future.

"You're going to be missed. Much love."

Another wrote: "Very sad to read this, your food has always been 100% amazing. I wish you and your family every success."
