Strictly Come Dancing viewers say 'what the hell happened' as they take up same issue minutes into week one

The glitz and the glam - and the trepidation of it being a live show - were all back on Saturday night (September 23) as Strictly Come Dancing 2023 officially began. While the launch show aired last weekend, this weekend's show marked the first week of the official competition as 15 new couples vie for the Glitterball trophy.

The first live show of the brand new series opened with a dramatic performance by the professional dancers set to Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears For Fears. The routine opened with a number of the dancers performing at a scenic, coastal viewpoint before the scene moved to the Strictly dancefloor, where the rest of the professionals joined the performance.

It was then on with the competition as Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman welcomed viewers back to the ballroom for the 21st series while judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas took their seats behind the judging panel ready to cast their expert eyes over the routines.

But before the professional dancers did what they did best in their dramatic pre-recorded group number, led by Katya Jones and Nikita Kuzmin, Strictly fans were flocking to social media as they spotted a change to the opening titles - and it seems they didn't like it.

Rather than playing the Strictly theme tune straight away, the show seemed to have a longer intro than usual with each celebrity contestant being introduced with their names on screen as they were seen in a backstage area or in their usual places of work.
