Strictly Come Dancing's Adam Thomas knows who his biggest competition is and says 'it is what it is'

Strictly's Adam Thomas has revealed who his biggest competition is - himself. The actor from Manchester has spoken honestly about beating himself up and being too hard on himself at times.

After being told on the Strictly Come Dancing spin-off show It Takes Two that he was on the second half of the leader board, he joked: "You're joking me, I thought I was at the top. I thought I was doing alright

"I know we are in a competition but genuinely the only competition is myself. If I can do better than I did the week before, then I will be happy."

Adam and his professional dancing partner Luba Mushtuk will be jiving to Take on me from the film Super Mario Brothers this Saturday (October 7), for week three 'movie week' of the Strictly live shows.

He said: "Training is going well. We are getting through the routine. It's been challenging but we are getting there.

"I have constantly got this little voice in my head, beating myself up. Mistakes are going to happen and I nearly cried on national television. But it is what it is. I have just got to pick myself up and get out there this Saturday night and just enjoy it and not give myself too much of a hard time."

The Waterloo Road star took to the ballroom floor to perform a dramatic Tango to the song Somebody Told Me which is by the The Killers but opted for the Maneskin version. The couple earned 23 points and received some positive feedback from the judges, including Motsi Mabuse who said the former Emmerdale star had been "more engaged" this week.
